The 18th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC2015) was held in Hyderabad, India, from 13 to 16 December 2015, under the co-sponsorship of the National Institutes of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) and YRP R&D Promotion Committee (YRP), and local research institutions.
Under the theme of “Global Digitalization,” the WPMC2015 was held simultaneously with the Global Wireless Summit (GWS) in cooperation with the Global ICT Standardization Forum in India (GISFI) and Indian Institute of Technology, etc.
As regards the Symposium of WPMC, out of 262 total received papers, 187 were accepted. Under the umbrella of WPMC, 8 Special Sessions with 64 papers and 3 Workshops with 15 papers were successfully conducted. Besides this, 108 research papers were presented under different general sessions of WPMC. Ten Tutorial Sessions were organized on December 13, 2015, out of which 5 were under the umbrella of WPMC. In addition, session on 5G, Wi-SUN, and Wireless Communications Technology for Anti-Disaster, etc., were held under the leadership of NICT, and opinions were lively exchanged.
In the opening session, Ms. Smriti Dagar, President of The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), was invited as the guest, and Prof. Raja Kumar, General Chair of WPMC2015 Organizing Committee, Dr. Fumihiko Tomita, Vice President of NICT, and Prof. Dr. Mitsutoshi Hatori, Chairman of YRP R&D Promotion Committee, respectively, made welcome addresses.
