Call for Participation

The Centre for Wireless Communications of the University of Oulu hosts the Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications Symposium 2008 (WPMC’08) on 8-11 September 2008. The conference is held in Saariselkä resort, 250 km north from the Arctic Circle, in the most beautiful area of Finnish Lapland. WPMC’08 is a meeting ground for specialists contributing to “Convergence – Magic meeting the reality” – the theme for WPMC’08. Leading experts from industry, academia and regulatory bodies all have their share in making the event a truly quality one. Besides the main conference, three interesting workshops are organised under the topics: automotive ICT systems (AUTO-ICT), green wireless networking (W-GREEN), and medical & wellness ICT technologies (FEELIT). Tutorials shall be provided free of charge for all IEEE and IEICE student members.

WORKSHOPS

Three workshops are included in the WPMC’08 technical programme. One day participation in a single workshop is also possible.

1st International Workshop on Green Wireless Systems
(W-GREEN 2008), 8 September 2008
W-GREEN 2008 will focus on the inter-disciplinary research challenges associated with the design, implementation, and application of future wireless technologies aiming at environmental friendly technology deployment.

International Workshop on Future Wellness and Medical ICT
Systems (FEELIT 2008)
, 9 September 2008
FEELIT 2008 will focus on both technological challenges related
to wellness and medical ICT systems as well as to related
applications.

1st International Workshop on Automotive ICT Systems
(AUTOICT 2008)
, 10 September 2008
AutoICT 2008 will focus on the inter-disciplinary research and
technology challenges associated with the design, implementation,
and application of future ICT technologies in automotive
industry. Special attention is paid to communication
technologies.

TUTORIALS

Three tutorial tracks will be organised on
Monday 8 September.
Track 1: Sensor Networking (full day tutorial)
Track 2: Cellular Systems (two half day tutorials)
Track 3: Cognitive Radio Systems (two half day tutorials)
